The excellent customer service provided by P.J. Bryer fully endorsed the personal recommendation I had been given. From the cheery, informative response to telephone enquiries, good recommendations provided with the quotation (the performance of the "high recovery" water cylinder is amazing!) and the quality installation provided by Adam and Steve. Thank you.

Q. What is a Condensing Boiler?

A. A condensing boiler gets its name because the flue gas temperature to atmosphere is low, commonly around 50 C. This causes condensation to form in the heat exchanger. The boilers can be around 88 to 93% efficient compared to regular boilers that are around 55 to 70%.

Q. What is the difference between a combination boiler and regular boiler?

A. in basic terms a combination boiler heats the water instantaneously and therefore requires no cylinder. A regular boiler needs a hot water cylinder, both boilers are available as condensing boilers.

Q. How more efficient is a condensing boiler?

A. Generally boilers will be 20 to 30% more efficient. However, fitted with good controls and high recovery cylinders (with regular boilers), savings can be made between 20 and 45%.

Q. How much upheaval is there when fitting a condensing boiler?

A. This will depend upon the age and condition of your existing system. Some boiler changes will be straight forward and will only take a couple of days, most are completed within 2 to 3 and a half days. Generally you do not need to replace all pipe work and radiators.

Q. What is the next step if I am interested in changing my boiler?

A. We are happy to provide a no obligation quotation free of charge, whether it is for a new boiler or just to advise on new controls and energy efficiency.
